La Conquista stands for a small assembly of jute products / accessories aswell as a capsule collection of women's clothes, inspired by islamic graphics, architecture and my overall love for Spain.
A year ago, Koffiekàn, an ethical & sustainable coffee-roasting factory, gave me the opportunity to use their old coffeebags for making new products. As a strong believer in promoting recycling & upcycling, this new challenge was -again- right up my alley!
Every product I made is limited, since all the materials (lining / wool & sewing thread for embroidery / buckles /...) are either second-hand, designer-overstock, inherited or leftovers.
In case you're interested in one of the products, do not hesitate to contact me!
This is only the beginning, I fell in love with the material... a whole new world opened up for me; so you can expect more jute products in the future!
* April 20th 15:00 - 21:00 home-expo @Tarbot35 - contact me @sharon.slingeneyer@telenet.be for an invitation! *

Process Not Product
It's been a while! :-)
The last two months were the first of my sabbatical year...
I immediately jumped into a creative rollercoaster and started working on a new project for De Invasie Van Gent.
So overexcited as I was about my newly-gained freedom, no second was lost in creating as much as possible :-)
So, here's a little 'behind the screens' from that period, very soon I'll show you more of the finished products!
P.S. Process not product fits perfectly with this post; a while ago I read Dave's inspiring blog and Leanne's mantra "process, not product" stuck with me, as I also enjoy every step of creating!
moodboard
must find a rubber-finger-thingie in the future :-)
Fleamarket findings

Spreading the word!
A little pimp-project on the side for Beresterk
My main material :-)
I see oldskool logos on the way, do you recognize it? :-)
I see the sea

I nsta LIKE
Since I've indulged myself with a 'smart' phone, I've been fooling around with this addictive app Instagram for a little while :-)
I've always loved taking pictures, keeping a kind of photo-diary of life, so this app was right up my alley.
If you like my insta-pics, you can also follow all of them here !
AND...
More tangible projects to come pretty soon, since I'm taking a one-year-could-be-even-longer-career-leave as from february!

Impatience is a virtue
I quite enjoyed upholstering this little wooden box.
It made me realise again that I actually adore meticulous and painstaking work.
I was supposed to be this very impatient person, but challenging myself this way gave me peace...
who would've thought :-)
Good luck with your box, Valentine!

fiONa.
A small collaboration between my good friend/designer Fia (aka Little Miss Y) and me resulted in a capsule collection of children's pyama's.
All it took was blood, sweat and lots of giggling. DEFINITELY to be continued :-)

Warm Boy
Yes, even my boyfriend needs a new sweater once in a decade!
I used some lovely fabric I found at Dries Van Noten's stocksale a while ago, hem & collar are the same but reversed.
Maybe new trousers and hairdo will be my next assignment, it all depends on the king's wishes :-)
Currently I have plenty more of this fabric to share, so let me know in case you're interested in one of these!
