Process Not Product

It's been a while! :-)
The last two months were the first of my sabbatical year...
I immediately jumped into a creative rollercoaster and started working on a new project for De Invasie Van Gent.
So overexcited as I was about my newly-gained freedom, no second was lost in creating as much as possible :-)
So, here's a little 'behind the screens' from that period, very soon I'll show you more of the finished products!

P.S. Process not product fits perfectly with this post; a while ago I read Dave's inspiring blog and Leanne's mantra "process, not product" stuck with me, as I also enjoy every step of creating!

I nsta LIKE

Since I've indulged myself with a 'smart' phone, I've been fooling around with this addictive app Instagram for a little while :-)
I've always loved taking pictures, keeping a kind of photo-diary of life, so this app was right up my alley.

If you like my insta-pics, you can also follow all of them here !

AND...
More tangible projects to come pretty soon, since I'm taking a one-year-could-be-even-longer-career-leave as from february!

Impatience is a virtue

I quite enjoyed upholstering this little wooden box.
It made me realise again that I actually adore meticulous and painstaking work.

I was supposed to be this very impatient person, but challenging myself this way gave me peace...
who would've thought :-)

Good luck with your box, Valentine!

fiONa.

A small collaboration between my good friend/designer Fia (aka Little Miss Y) and me resulted in a capsule collection of children's pyama's.
All it took was blood, sweat and lots of giggling. DEFINITELY to be continued :-)

Finishing off...

the last cushions of this collection.

I can't get enough of combining these fabrics... blame it on rare, fortuitious, Belgian stocksales ;-)

Alas... current kapok is used up... more combo's to come in the future!
As for now... off to new project-horizons!

Warm Boy

Yes, even my boyfriend needs a new sweater once in a decade!
I used some lovely fabric I found at Dries Van Noten's stocksale a while ago, hem & collar are the same but reversed.
Maybe new trousers and hairdo will be my next assignment, it all depends on the king's wishes :-)
Currently I have plenty more of this fabric to share, so let me know in case you're interested in one of these!

Esperanza kapok pleasure - the sequel

The filling of these pillows consists of kapok, it's a natural material that revives when putting it in the sun. The pillows were handfilled by Mieke, my favourite upholstery-contact in Ghent!
The combination of two fabrics makes the pillows adjustable to mood and season.
The combos are made of second-hand & overstock of belgian designers' cotton and wool.
The cover is removable and can be washed :-)
These pillows are an ode to Esperanza, the most beautiful place in the world.
Soon for sale at Elle et Gand, through my webshop or mail me directly if you want!

Please note the special detail from my cat Wax on one of the pillows :-)

Here you can find the former selection!

Bookmarks

It was about time... several opened magazines and books filling up the floor in our house.
Nope, I'm not that kind of girl that uses receipts as a bookmark! It may sound strange, but I always thought books deserved more than that...
So, some days before going on holiday, there's another 'pending' 'done'!
I used some leftover cardboardcovers from chinese take-away boxes, aswell as some sticky japanese fabric which had been waiting for a goal!
Those that I'm not using myself are soon for sale @ my shop :-)
